
“Child Foundation,” which has been registered in Iran under the name of “Child Welfare Charity Institute,” started it activities in 1995. Child Foundation opened its first office in the city of Shiraz and simultaneously, its office in Portland city of the US State of Oregon was inaugurated under the name of “Child Foundation.” Child Foundation officially started its activities after it was registered in 1999 under No. 398. As a nongovernmental, nonprofit, non-political and civil charity institutes, the Child Foundation has stated its sacred goal as: “No Iranian talented student should be deprived of education on ground of poverty.” After receiving the permit for national activities from the Interior Ministry under No. 25540, the Child Foundation has opened its offices in the Iranian cities of Isfahan, Urumiyeh (Urmia), Ardebil, Amol, Bam, Boroujerd, Tabriz, Tehran, Darab, Zabol, Shiraz, Karaj, Kermanshah, Kashan, Mashhad, Yasouj, Rasht, Jiroft, Ilam, Maragheh and Zahedan during the past 20 years and has extended its services to various Iranian provinces. In addition, the Foundation’s offices in the cities of Qazvin, Ahvaz, Abhar, Yazd, Zahedan, Gorgan, and Kerman also provide relief services by supporting needy students in those provinces.
To maintain contacts between Iranian expatriates and their fellow countrymen in Iran, Child Foundation has been conducting considerable international activities as well. The offices of Child Foundation are currently active in four continents, including in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Germany and the UK. During the past 20 years, the Child Foundation has been supporting over 10,000 poor students and their families. At present, more than 6,000 families are still supported by the vast network of the Foundation in cooperation with Iranian benefactors and more than 700 of them are now studying at Iranian universities and other creditable higher education institutes.
By taking advantage of scientific and modern methods as well as transparent information and accountability, Child Foundation has succeeded for the first time in Iran to launch a Web-based integrated software system containing all the information related to people seeking assistance, and contributors as well as finance, auditing and reporting activities. This software has been designed and developed according to the Foundation’s needs and capacities and is exclusive to the Child Foundation of Iran.
In terms of finances as well as administrative and organizational expenses, the Child Foundation of Iran is solely run through people’s contributions and does not depend on the government’s budget. Financial turnout of the Foundation is also audited annually by creditable institutes using certified accountants. Financial reports are also available to the public on the website of the Child Foundation.
